During the early months of 2020, Covid 19 (AKA the "Beer Virus") came crashing across our world like a tsunami without warning, and rocked life as we know it across our world and every walk of life. The loss has been great and the impact far reaching. I dont know about you, but it feels like humanity was launched into a dizzying spiral deep into the Covid 19 rabbit hole!
It was in that darkness Heartpouring.com was born. It is only because of God's love & faithfulness that I am alive today and able to share my story, this journey and the epic struggles and recoveries with you!
On March 27, 2021 a 105.5 fever and the "Beer Virus" (Covid 19) hit my life with a force that I never saw coming! Just two weeks later I was rushed to the hospital on oxygen in total respiratory failure. For the next 5 days I was given a "Covid Cocktail" which is a combination of 3 powerful medications including an antiviral designed to stop the unimaginable beast wrestling inside my body from further damaging my lungs and organs.
Enveloped in the darkness as I struggled for breath, I thought about the caterpillar and its cocoon. I wondered if the caterpillar can feel the impending paralyzation as its body begins melting into an inescapable puddle?
It would be another year and a lifechanging auto accident before I'd revisit my questions about the caterpillar within its cocoon. An auto accident on March 15, 2022 and complications that followed, left me paralyzed and unable to move my legs or walk! Electricity surged through my entire body like I was holding onto a live wire and severe numbness made it nearly impossible to use my arms for more than a few minutes.
What God has done in my body and life has been nothing short of miraculous, and though I've had to go through 5 surgeries on my spine I am walking on my own again. He is the great physician, my healer and I praise God.
Its been the longest season of isolation and unrelenting darkness riddled with the deepest pain I've ever known. But there is healing and hope in the midst of this nightmare! I'm beginning to understand it's because of the darkness the butterfly transforms not in spite of it - There is great hope knowing that the darkness has an appointed role in life and no matter how I feel right now, it won't always be this way!
Through the pleasure, the pain, the winning, the losing, and every struggle & victory in between, NOW is the place I have been searching my entire life to find...and I'm so thankful for the heart and love of my Heavenly Father and my beautiful Husband who are holding my heart and walking every step with me!
They remind me that Love is the only One stronger than the darkness - take heart for Jesus has overcome the world! John 16:33
